A Reply to Marian Cannon Dornell's Poem

From James Hoffman, October 08, 2003
I enjoyed reading Mrs. Marian Dornell's poem and can relate with all of it. I recall my mother washing clothes like that and hanging them on the line and during the winter months the sheets froze before they were completely hung. I also recall the washing of the lace and linen curtains and spreading them damp on a device called "Curtain Stretchers" which contained many little nails to attach the curtains to and spread them tight to prevent wrinkles during the drying process. This poem brought many fond memories.
