Death Certificates at State Archives

From Calobe Jackson, Jr., March 7, 2006

I have been reviewing the Dauphin County death certificates located at the state archives. They have 1853-55 and 1893-1906. As a test I looked for and found one for Jane Chester (1894). Nothing really new on her. She was born in Virginia and died at 88 yrs. from "Exhaustion." (?)

Interestingly I did find one Black, a druggist, who was buried in Harrisburg Cemetery, which if true is contrary to popular history. The files, although lengthy, are easy to scan. I plan to copy all Black deaths and make a matrix of information.
