Slaves in Westmoreland County

From Wade Danser, March 18, 2006

I read a Yahoo story about teachers in New York educating students about slavery in their state.  I was born and raised in Westmoreland County, so I Googled "Slaves in Westmoreland County," and was directed to your site. Thank you so much for the information.  Never in school were we taught about slavery in our own county.  I think it should be required!  All too often schools talk about slavery in the South, and never did it cross my mind that there would have been slaves in Westmoreland.  I lived in Georgia for about a year, and saw some graves where slaves were buried.  Very little on the marker if anything.  I now wonder if there have been any graves discovered in Westmoreland County.
