Philadelphia County Slavery Advertisements

June 13, 1817

20 Dollars Reward.
Ran away from the subscriber, on the 9th instant a coloured young man, (he can be taken for a white man, as he is very light complexioned and his hair straight) named William Irving, a jeweller by trade, aged twenty years, six feet high, or therabouts; had on when he started a blue cloth coat, blue cloth pantaloons and a hat almost new.

He speaks French--he has taken with him a small gold watch, which, it is supposed he will offer for sale. He can easily be known by several shot lodged in his right arm, especially above the elbow.

The above reward and all reasonable charges will be paid to whoever shall bring him to his master, in Franklin Court, No. 12, or secure him in any jail, so that I may get him again.

Peter Gaudichaud.
Philadelphia, June 13,

N. B. Masters of vessels and others are cautioned against harbouring him at their peril.
