      RUN away from the subscriber, living in Uwchland township, Chester county, State of Pennsylvania on the 25th of this instant, a Negroe Wench named DINAH, near 30 years of age, of a low stature, this country born; had on, when she went away, two brown linsey petticoats, one whereof new, an old cloth jacket and striped linsey ditto, a brown linsey short gown, two shirts of town linen, white yarn stockings, and good shoes, with carved metal buckles, and an old silk bonnet; she commonly wears silver bobs in her ears. Whoever secures said wench, so that her master may have her again, shall receive EIGHT DOLLARS reward, and reasonable charges, paid by DAVID CARSON. March 26, 1783.
      Carson recaptured Dinah, but she made another escape the following July:
      RAN AWAY, on the night of the 12th instant, from the subscriber, living in Uwchland township, Chester county. A Negroe Woman, named DINA, about 30 years of age, of a middle stature, short visage, and naturally of a sour countenance. Had on when she went away, a brown short gown and petticoat, both of linsey, a tow shirt, and may have many other articles of cloathing not yet discovered; she has either silver ear-rings or holes for them. Whoever takes up said Negroe Woman and secures her in any goal, so that her master may have her again, shall have THREE POUNDS reward, and reasonable charges, if brought home, paid by DAVID CARSON.

    WANTED to PURCHASE or HIRE, A YOUNG NEGROE WOMAN, who understands Country Business, and would be likely to suit a Public House in the Country. Any Person having such a One to dispose of, or to hire, may hear of a Purchaser, or Employer, by enquiring of the PRINTERS hereof, or of RICHARD CHEYNEY, at the Sign of the KingArms, in DowningTown, Chester County. September 7, 1774.
    In 1771, Cheyney took over the King in Arms Inn, a major stop between Philadelphia and Lancaster on the Lancaster Road, from John Downing. The Chester County Revolutionary Committee met there in 1776. (Chester County and Its People, W. W. Thomson, published in 1898) This inn later became known as the Washington Inn, and later still, the Swan Hotel.
