FREDERICK DOUGLASS PRESENTATION, KEESEVILLE, NY, JULY 13, 2003
The words of one of America's greatest patriots and finest orators,
Frederick Douglass, will ring through the AuSable Valley Grange Hall in
Keeseville in an afternoon performance on Sunday, July 13, 2003. Fred
Morsell, a professional actor and educator nationally known for his
portrayal of the 19th-century hero will deliver a speech gleaned from more
than 40 of Douglass' speeches and writings on suffrage and equal rights for
women. Called "Why I Am A Women's Rights Man," Mr. Morsell's performance is
sponsored by John Brown Lives!, Northern Adirondack Planned Parenthood,
Adirondack Architectural Heritage, and AuSable Valley Grange. Making a
special guest appearance, the folk duo Magpie will open the show at 4:00
p.m. with songs of freedom. A reception will follow at the Grange. General
admission to the "Why I Am A Women's Rights Man" performance on July 13 is
$15 (children under 12 are admitted free of charge). A special family rate
of $25 is offered. Seating is limited and reservations are necessary. The
venue is not handicapped accessible.

URR HERITAGE FESTIVAL, PEEKSKILL, NY, JULY 27, 2003
The first Underground Railroad Heritage Festival of Peekskill will be held
Sunday July 27th at the Riverfront Green it will have vendors,
entertainment and ethnic foods. So those of you that would like attend the

Will
host an Underground Railroad Gathering with The Pennsylvania Federation of
Museums & Historical Organizations, The Crawford County Historical Society,
the John Brown Heritage Association, and the Crawford County Convention &
Visitors Bureau. The Gathering is an informal meeting of individuals and
organizations interested in promoting, protecting and preserving the
history of the Underground Railroad. The Gathering provides opportunity
for networking, program development and collaboration. And because history
needs an audience, many tourism organizations have been invited to hear and
to share ideas and information about how to bring history to the public. A
light continental breakfast will be provided by the Crawford County C & VB.
The Underground Railroad Gathering will be September 13, 2003 At the
Riverside Inn, 1 Fountain Avenue, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403 The time 8:30
