CONFERENCE: "THE U.S. CONSTITUTION, CIVIL LIBERTIES AND THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD," TEMPLE UNIVERSITY, FEBRUARY 13, 2004

The First Annual Underground Railroad Conference at Temple University

Organized by the African American Studies Department and co-sponsored by the Charles Blockson Collection, February 13, 2004.

The conference is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 8 AM. The sessions will be followed by a reception at 5 PM.

The key note speech will be given by Mr. Charles Blockson.

HARRIET TUBMAN

Kate Clifford Larson's new book, Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero (Ballentine Books, 2003) is now available and comes very highly recommended. Another book on Tubman is expected in mid January, Catharine Clinton's Harriet Tubman: The Road to Freedom.
