URR NEWS: ADDITIONAL TUBMAN COMMEMORATIONS IN NEW YORK CITY AND
HOUSTON, TEXAS, MARCH 10, 2005
Celebration and commemoration of "Harriet Tubman Day" and the unveiling of
Harriet Ross Tubman Avenue, sponsored by Councilman Albert Vann, Thursday,
March 10, 2005, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Fulton Street at corner of Classon
Avenue.
Speaker: Honorable Adelaide L. Sanford, Vice Chancellor of the New York
State Board of Regents.
In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be held at The Bedford
Village School/PS 3, 50 Jefferson Avenue, between Bedford and Franklin
Avenues.

"Harriet Tubman Day in Houston, Texas will take place at the Buffalo Soldier
National Museum at 1834 Southmore in the Houston Museum District. On
Thursday, March 10, 2005, students will be excused from school to honor
Ms. Harriet Ross-Tubman-Davis as one of the most noted women in history.

march from the museum down the streets of Houston with books shouting
promises to read more everyday!"
