Re: Former Spouse of Thurgood Marshall

From Harryette Mullen, 24 August 2007, in response to Ed Dornell's letter

According to biographical information found on the internet, Thurgood Marshall married his first wife, Vivian Burey, just before graduating in 1930 from Lincoln University in Chester County, PA. The 1920 census includes a Burey family residing in Philadelphia, PA:  father, Christopher Burey, 30, hotel caterer, born in Jamaica; mother, Maud, 29, born in PA; daughter Vivian, 8, born in PA.
