Infantry, enrolling at age 24, mustering in and out as a private.  In that
same company were three of Wesley's brothers.  James Krunkleton reported
his age as 19 when he mustered in, but he would have been no older than 17 and
probably lied about his age to enlist.  James died at 52 years of age on 23
June 1899 and is buried in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg, Franklin County.
William Krunkleton was 21 when he mustered in  and Cyrus Krunkleton was 19
years old.  All four men listed their occupation as farmer and their
hometown as Mercersburg.  They were the sons of Wesley and Susan Crunkleton,
and the family appears in the 1850 census of Franklin County in Montgomery
Township. (NPS Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System, Microfilm M-589, Roll 51;
"Pennsylvania Men in Massachusetts Colored Infantry Units," by Thomas L.
Doughton, at "Afroyankees," 1999,
